expecting women of colour, disabled women and LGBTQA+ women to excuse racism, ableism, homophobia and transmisogyny simply because it’s coming from other women

Supporting strong women doesn’t mean taking strength away from men. It’s teaching young girls that, like young men, they can do and achieve anything they apply themselves to. It is giving your daughters the same strength and love that you give your sons.

You and I both know there’s got to be some greater storyline for you than ‘girl gets heart broken, was sad forever’. I think a nice one would be ‘girl gets heart broken, was sad for a while but in her heartbreak she found freedom, friends, and the ability to look back and laugh at all she’d learned. She now lives her life on her own terms and still has fantastic hair.’
